What is X-ray astronomy

X-ray astronomy the study of * x-ray sources by rockets and balloons in the earth's atmosphere and by satellites beyond it.

The first nonsolar x-ray source was detected during a rocket flight in 1962, and this observation heralded an entirely new branch of astronomy which developed rapidly with the availability of satellites in the 1970s.
