What is Scatter Diagram

Scatter Diagram A graphic represen¬tation of the relationship between two variable quantities. It can be used in taxo-nomic methods, e.g. plotting oak leaf *petioles against an index of elliptical or obovate lamina shapes, which allows a dis¬tinction to be made between Quercus robur (English oak) and Q. petraea (durmast oak). It can also be used to plot the distribution of organisms in relation to a particular en¬vironmental factor. When the two variables are plotted against each other it is possible to determine the degree of corre¬lation between them.
